Women aiming for the top 06 Apr 2012
In a bold move  John McKay Chairman of  Boxing NZ  anounced today the  NZ Female Boxing Team's preparation  leading up to  the Womens World  Boxing Championships to be held in  China from 9 May - 20 May 2012

Preparation start
 next week  with  international competition for Hurricane Doyle, 75Kg, Alexis Pritchard, 60Kg and Siona Fernandez 52Kg. against a Western Australian trio in Christchurch on Thursday the 12th. April 

This will followed by  a ten day International  Training Camp at the Australian Institute of sport in Canberra with Australia and the  Brazilian Boxing team from the 14th April. The team will be acompanied by National  Coach Cameron Todd  

With A Tri-Nation competition planned to take place between the participating countries during that time.
The seven  member  female team  selected to compete at the World Championships  in China - with weights ranging from 48Kg through to 75Kg  are  Lloyds Scully 48Kg., Siona Fernandez 52Kg., Marie O'Neill 57Kg., Alexis Pritchard 60Kg., Laura Matthews 64Kg., Daena Stevenson 69Kg., and Hurrican Doyle 75Kg. Head Coach Cameron Todd , Assistant Coach Paul Fitzsimmons and Manager Mrs. Gerry Heeney.

At  the previous world championships in Barbados  the New Zealand womens team were encouraged by their success  and thanks to funding through Sparc  the Boxing NZ Executive  have formulated this years leadup to the 2012 World Championships with the goal  to  Qualify for  the Olympic Games
