7 December 2009
TO ALL ASSOCIATION SECRETARIES AND OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS
Dear Association Secretaries
There is a huge amount of important information contained in this newsletter, which we would be most grateful if you could distribute to your membership.

1. Nominations from Associations to host Commonwealth Trials
Nominations are called for from Associations who are willing to host the Commonwealth Trials.
This event must be held no later than 30 January 2010.

With your application, please state what contribution, if any, your Association is prepared to make regarding financial assistance with travel and accommodation costs/arrangements for Boxers, as there is no Boxing New Zealand funding for these trials and Boxers must pay their own attendance costs.

These Trials are open to Commonwealth Games "Long List" Boxers only, and the format for the tournament will be a National Championships type draw.

Any applications to host these must be received by Thursday 31 December 2009(these can be faxed to 04 920-4220).

       Nominations for Boxers to Compete
Nominations are open only to Boxers on the Commonwealth Games "Long List", to compete for consideration for the team to:

+     The Oceania Championships (time and location to be advised); and

+     The Commonwealth Games (7-13 October 2010, Delhi).

Note: Please refer to the attached Commonwealth Games "Long List" (buff paper) for those Boxers eligible to compete at these Trials, and also, for your assistance, a Boxers' nomination form for these Trials. (white paper).
If any of the detailed information on the "Long List" is no longer correct or outdated, please advise the Office.

2.          Important Information - Commonwealth Games Criteria
Attached is a copy of the 2010 Commonwealth Games Criteria as agreed between the NZ Olympic Committee and Boxing New Zealand (blue paper). Please ensure that all interested persons are provided with this information. Boxers on the "Long List" will already have received this and should have completed and returned the required forms to confirm their place on the "Long List".

3.          Rankings and National Squads
Also attached are the current list of Rankings and the list of National Squads (white paper).

4.          Nominations for Female Elite Coach (pink paper)
Nominations are re-called for the position of Female Elite Squad Coach; Position Description with cut-off application form attached. Please ensure that your application is received at the National Office by 15th January 2010.

Note: This appointment will run until 31 December 2010.

5. Minutes of National Executive Meetings
Enclosed also are copies of the minutes of the National Executive meetings of 1 May 2009, 24 July 2009, 6 October 2009 and 7 October 2009 (post AGM). Sincere apologies for the delay in circulating the minutes of 1 May and 24 July, reflecting what has been a hugely difficult and fragmented year, with the change of Chairman, etc.

However, as discussed at the Annual General Meeting, we will attempt to email out draft copies of minutes of Executive meetings within one month of the meeting to those with email addresses. There have been teething problems, and we hope that you will continue to bear with us. The last attempt was not entirely successful (with emailing the minutes of 6 October meeting). Until all our computers and PCs speak the same 'language' we will need your co-operation to find a 'language' you can receive.   We will endeavour to mail out hard copies of minutes as soon as they are confirmed by the National Executive at their next meeting.

Many thanks for all your assistance.

Kindest regards.

Deirdre Rogers
