Commonwealth Trials 17 Jan 2010

The Auckland  Boxing association will host the 2010 Commonwealth games trials at their ABA stadium on Saturday the  30th of January , the trials will be held over two sessions and strong competition will be seen in the Light Welter ,Welter ,Middleweight and Light heavy divisions .

National champion  Angus Donaldson of Manawatu will have to overcome a very determined Nort Beachamp from Canterbury  in the 60kgs class while Todd Commons will be favourite in the 64kg lightwelter division with competition coming from Nuka Gemmell (Auck)  Alex Dickson  and Josiah Meehan (Manawatu)
With current National Champ Emilio Leti (Wgtn-Hutt) having turned pro the feild in the Welterweights is anybodys expect strong  opposition from  Kahukura Bentson  (Auck) Bowyn Morgan (Cant) Justin Potter (CAB) and Daniel Parkin (Nelson) 

Nathan McEwen (Cant) will want to improve on last years National results and has the opportunity to overide  a loss to Aucklands Issac Peach the current Middleweight Champion  another with plenty to prove will be Luke Searle (CBM) while Kyle Merrwether (Waik) and Gunner Jackson (Auck) will make up the others with tabs on a Commonwealth berth , (Joe Blackbourn (Well-Hutt  may miss this event but has declared his intention to take back the National title he lost with a shock upsetto Nathan McEwen  in
2008

In  the 81kg class Reece Papuni (Cant)  Zig Zag wallace (Waikato) are likely to repeat last years  national final  unless Sam Rapira (Wang-Tar) and John Leighton (Auck) upset 

Yamiko Chinula (Cant)  will be looking to find form again to overcome current national champ David Aloua-Rogers (BOP) and runner up James Emmerson (Auck)
