INVITATION

Smithfield Boxing Club is delighted to invite your club to participate in Smithfield Boxfest 2018.

The tournament is a well-established international competition, first staged in 2010. World European class competitors have travelled from countries including Russia, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Lithuania, Italy and Ukraine to take. This year, we invite your club to join them in competition.

 

PARTICIPATION

Juniors: 2003 -2002 year of birth (open class)

Weights:      Men: 48kg, 50kg, 52kg ,54kg, 57kg, 60kg , 63kg, 66kg, 75kg ,80kg, 85kg

Women: 48kg ,60kg , 75kg ,  

Youths: 2000-2001 year of birth (open class)

Weights:      Women, only: 48kg ,75kg

Seniors and elite Seniors  (open class)

Weights:      Men: 56kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, 91kg, 91kg, +

Women: 48kg , 60kg , 75kg

 

  • EACH BOXER MUST BE MEDICALLY CHECKED AND FIT TO BOX (TEAM’S RESPONSIBILITY)
  • EACH BOXER SHOULD HAVE AIBA BOXING CARD
  • THERE WILL BE  UP TO 500gr ALLOWANCE  FROM OFFICIAL WEIGHT  ON THE SCALE
  • EACH TEAM MAY ENTER ONLY ONE BOXER PER THE WEIGHT CATEGORY
  • TEAMS SHOULD CONSISTE OF APPROXIMATELY 8 TO 12 BOXERS, 2 COACHES & AN OFFICIAL.
  • AIBA QUALIFIED OFFICIALS ARE MOST WELCOME
  • ALL ENTRY FORMS  MUST  BE FULLY COMPLITED WITH CORRECT INFORMATION   
  • THE CLUB MANAGMENT RESERVSE RIGHTS TO WITHDRAW ANY BOXER IN SUCH CASES WHERE INCORRECT &/OR INCOMPLETE INFORMATION HAS BEEN SUBMITTED.
  • ENTRY FEE PER BOXER €20 NON REFUNDABLE  PAYBLE IN ADVANCE TO CLUB ACCOUNT

 

PLACE AND TIME

The tournament will be held Dublin City Council’s Aughrim Street Sports Centre, Dublin 7.

The centre is less than 2 kilometres/1.2 miles, from Dublin City Centre, and is well served with

hotel, hostel, B&B & AirBnB accommodation. Smithfield Boxing Club will provide assistance in locating accommodation, should it be required.

 

Weigh in/medicals:        Aughrim St Sports Centre

Thursday  the 4th of October 7pm  - 9pm  or

Fri the 5th Oct  - 8.30- 10.30am

 

Draw / matching making          Fri 5th Oct. 12-1pm

 

Fights:           Friday, 5th October:            Semi-finals  4pm -11pm

Saturday, 6th October:      Finals  11am - till late

FINANCIAL CONDITIONS

All participating teams are responsible for their own travel, food, accommodation, participation fees and any other expenses that may occur.

Smithfield Boxing Club is responsible for all the expenses arising from running the tournament.

 

RULES OF COMPETITION

  • The Competition will be held under AIBA rules
  • Bouts will consist of 3 rounds X 2minutes for junior boxers & 3 rounds X 3 minutes for  youths, seniors and elite seniors .
  •  Female bouts :juniors will be 3rounds x 2minutes , youth / seniors:  3rounds x 3minutes
  • Seniors  and  elite senior boxers will box without head guards
  • There will be no more than 8 boxers per weight division, split by 2 sections based on standard of boxers.

The following prizes will be given the winners:

Medals (Gold, Silver, Bronze)

Diplomas

Trophies for the “Best Boxer of the Tournament”, “Best Team of the Tournament”

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND DEADLINES: Entry is a three step process

2. Completion and return of medical form to smithfieldboxfest@gmail.com

3. Payment of fees, €20 per participant, by bank transfer:
